Bergamot & Oatmeal Face Mask [13 Oct 2010|05:46pm]

This face mask soothes the skin whilst thorougly cleansing it, it also has anti-bacterial qualities.

  • One handful of rolled oats
(helps soothes sensitive and irritated skin whilst moisturizing with amino acids)

  • Five to eight drops of Bergamot oil
(known for its antidepressant, antiseptic, antibiotic, anti-spasmodic, calmative, deodorant, therapeutic properties)

  • Boiled warm water
(boiling water helps get rid of any unwanted bacteria and makes it easier to combine the ingredients)

  1. Grind the rolled oats in a mortar and pestle or a coffee grinder to achieve a finer powder.

  2. Slowly add warm boiled water (the warm water helps open your pores to cleanse your skin) and mix until you have a thick paste (the sort you can form peaks in when you take out your mixing utensil).

  3. Add 5-8 drops of Bergamot oil to the paste and mix in.

  4. Apply to face and wait 15 minutes. You should feel a soft cooling sensation as it sets.

  5. Wash with warm water.

Try it out and tell me what you think :)

Miessence Organics [19 Oct 2005|11:57pm]

Hi, I'm new to the community (I apologize for those who may fall victim to my cross-posting).

I am a Katrina evacuee from the MS gulf coast, and I have been displaced for the past two months since losing my home. I have been doing a lot of thinking about how to rebuild my life, and I came across an opportunity. I decided to get involved in selling Miessence products in an attempt to raise money to get back on my feet. I don't like the idea of asking for donations, as I've seen others doing. I can only justify taking others' money if I feel that it is earned. And I feel really good about selling these products. They really are amazing.

If you haven't heard of these products before, they are the only certified organic beauty care products currently on the market. You have to try them to really believe how wonderful they are.
Please check out the website and see for yourself the benefits of these products over the average beauty products that contain numerous chemicals and toxins.
In addition, I urge everyone to read up on becoming a representative. I've only just begun, but it appears to be a truly great opportunity. I will be happy to provide any information I can about this.

Thanks for your time,

Carrie :)

sun protection (x-post) [04 Mar 2005|06:07pm]

the sun's starting to come out during the day again here in the pacific northwest, and i want to take better care of my skin this spring.

other than a hat, what do you recommend for protection from the sun? (face and/or body, especially those of you with acne or moody skin.) all i use right now is Oil of Olay's 'complete' moisturizer, but i want to switch to something else.

If you eat an onion every day your skin will look better.

They have vitamin a e and c.

boil a whole peeled onion in two or three cups of water, add seasoning salt and baby carrots. DONT CHOP UP THE ONION...

Eat that for a month.

you will glow.

Alternative to fasting [26 Jan 2004|10:58am]
[ mood | cold ]

Hey hey.

I was wondering if there is an alternative to fasting?

I would really rather eat detoxifying vegetables than not eat at all. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any detoxifying vegetables?

Thank you in advance.

Hello [24 Jan 2004|12:57am]
[ mood | creative ]

Hello everyone. My name is Melissa.

I saw this community on the lovely _pixiebat's info page. I really loved the idea of this community seeing as I am all for eating healthy.

Well, I fast alot to clean out impurities, and I also do it for religious purposes. But my main thing is trying to eat healthy in a house ful of people who eat things that are horrible for the body, and I also think the mind as well. I really don't enjoy eating, and I'd really like to. I think I'd enjoy it alot more if I ate what I think is better for me. I am getting into alternative medicines, therapies, etc. Things like that, and change of diet, more like my life is one of those.

I hope that I can benefit from this community as well as share with all of you.

I'm sorry to say I am really bad about eating junk food, but I do have one idea that I really enjoyed when I was staying at my cousin's house last summer. She is a very healthy eater, and I do enjoy fruits, vegetables and the like, I just tend to get fast food and "easy" stuff to make because I don't want to cook.

Anyway, she had some broccoli stir-fry that was in the freezer, and you just heat it in the pan she also added some chicken-tofu, and it was scrumpcious. If it's not enough, she also sometimes makes some ramen noodles and drains the broth and adds it into the pan..its all very good, and a really quick and easy to make.

so..there ya go. :)

[07 May 2003|05:56pm]

I've been searching and searching for a community that's about nutrition and healthy eating. This is pretty much the only one I can find. There are a few others that claim to be but are thinly veiled diet communities.

It's amazing that there are so many about dieting, but none about just eating well.

I am always trying to eat healthy, and am a massive fan of Patrick Holford and Optimum Nutrition.

Recently I've got really into eating seeds. Partly for the Omega oils and so on, but also that I've started to think perhaps I don't eat enough protein. Kind of fuelled by people around me going on the Atkins diet, and also that I starting working out with weights a little bit a while ago, and I want to make sure that I'm eating enough to build up muscle.

I see that this community hasn't had much traffic, and that seems like a shame !

Great Idea Mysteria! [21 Mar 2003|09:06pm]

[ mood | calm ]

Well personally I wanna stay young forever. Junk food and lack of body care is not the way to do it.

Mind if I start off with a few of my tips and tricks?

Use Vitamin E on your skin. (I actually mix mine 50% vitamin E and 50% Aveeno lotion) I know that vitamine E is no big secret, but very few people I know of actually use the stuff. I have an oily face so not wanting to put oil on my face I have shyed away from it for years. I wish I hadn't waited so long though. The stuff is so awesome! It makes my skin so soft and actually seems to make my face less oily. Go figure. Careful which brand you sue those. Nutra E brand is great...but some others I have bought are like rubbing cooking oil on yourself. I got little results from them.

I am a blending fool as you will learn. Here is my breakfast shake I make:

2-3 Heaping tablespoons of berries(fresh if possible) Blueberries and blackberries are the best choice for antioxidants.

1/2 a banana (the potassium is good for your heart)

1-2 heaping tablespoon of the nuts of your choice(nuts are also good for your heart)

1 cup of milk (I use skim)(gives ya calcium and vitamin D of course)

1 good big squirt of honey.

2 teaspoons of plain low fat yogurt(I don't always put this in)

Toss all this in the blender and blend away. I like to use the whip setting. You can make lots of variations of this depending on what kind of berries you use. Mmm Mmm! A mixture of Blueberries and Strawberries is my favorite. A blackberry/ raspberry combo is in second place.
